MPC Launches EdtechPrivacy.ca Portal to Address Gaps in Public
Education Training & AI Innovation

Canadian Teachers are Divided on Whether AI Will Have a Positive or Negative Impact

Toronto, Canada, September 24, 2024 – As the digital transformation of Canadian public education accelerates, privacy risks posed by ‘disruptive innovation’ arise from surprising sources, such as the lack of education for teachers, in 95% of cases, on such topics as AI and edtech.

With the rise of educational technology (EdTech) tools in schools, universities, and online learning platforms, educational institutions face unique challenges in complying with privacy regulations while maintaining digital innovation, making them particularly vulnerable to breaches and regulatory penalties.

According to Managed Privacy Canada founder Claudiu Popa, this is due to users and customers failing to understand the data collected by these tools: “Canadian school boards and other institutions have a long track record of bypassing due diligence as they rushed to onboard the latest edtech gizmo, placing students at generational risk and drawing attention from cybercriminals looking for data aggregators to exploit.”

With the launch of EdtechPrivacy.ca, MPC is looking for partners to bring privacy awareness and vigilance into the entire supply chain in Canada. The company is making available its Data Inventory and Collection for EdTech (DICE) Checklist to qualifying customers, partners and schools that need to inventory the data being collected for consent and privacy protection purposes. Simply make the request through the EdtechPrivacy.ca site.

Additional exclusive offers from www.edtechprivacy.ca include:

  • Downloadable information about the PrivacyDash platform
